Bordeaux | Appellation Bordeaux Contrôlée
When the Irishman Thomas Barton arrived in France in 1725, he settled in the historic winegrowing area of Bordeaux. For more than 250 years, Barton & Guestier has proved its expertise in this region. 1725 Bordeaux Réserve is and will stay a flagship.
Grape varieties: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon
Tasting notes: Deep cherry red colour and brilliant. Rich and intense nose of red berry fruit (redcurrant, wild strawberry).. When agitated, spicy and minty notes appear. Velvety tannins on the palate, well balanced wine with a long fruity aftertaste.
Food matches: Cheese, charcuterie, red meat, poultry – Best at 18°C.
Serving temperature: 16-18°C (61-65°F)
Winemaking: Traditional winemaking methods. Controlled extraction- alcoholic fermentation at high temperature (30-32°C) with daily pumping over- maceration (for 2 to 3 weeks) – malolactic fermentation
Soil: Combination of clay, limestone and gravels.
Climate: Oceanic, mild and humid.
Aging: Ageing on fine lees in vats.
Sugar levels: < 1 g/l
