Prince Noir

Bordeaux | Appellation Bordeaux Contrôlée

Prince Noir was the nickname of Edward de Woodstock.

Grown up in a chivalrous spirit, he led the Aquitaine and contributed to the fortune of Bordeaux from 1362 to 1372.

Since 1919, Prince Noir has been the first iconic Bordeaux brand. 

Grape varieties: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon

Tasting notes: Intense red garnet colour. Very aromatic with lot of ripe red and black fruits (black cherry, redcurrant, wild strawberry), enhanced with warm notes of spices (cinnamon, black pepper). Nice structure, well balanced with silky tannins. The palate is generous and powerful, with a pleasant fruity aftertaste.

Food matches: Red meats, cheese like ripe Camembert, pâté, red and black fruits desserts.
Best served between 16°C and 18°C / 61°F and 64°F.

Serving temperature: 16-18°C (61-65°F)

Winemaking: Traditional winemaking methods. Crushing of the grapes – alcoholic fermentation carried out at high temperature (30 – 32°C) with daily pumping over – maceration (3 weeks) – malolactic fermentation

Soil: Combination of clay, limestone and gravels.
Climate: Oceanic, mild and humid.
Aging: Ageing on fine lees in vats.
Sugar levels: < 1 g/l
Sizes available: 37.5cl, 75cl

Note : 81 / 100 Robe pourpre soutenu. Le nez associe fruits rouges et noirs mûrs et notes toastées. La bouche est généreuse, puissante. Attaque polie sur le fruit, légère touche d'amertume finale où l'on retrouve l'influence du bois. Deep crimson. A mix of ripe red and black fruits and toasted notes on the nose. The palate is generous and powerful. Polished, fruit-forward entry, faint hint of bitterness on the finish revealing oak influence.
