French Tom Varietals

History

When Thomas Barton, the Irishman, settled in Bordeaux in 1725, he was very quickly nicknamed "French Tom" by his friends and loyal customers. A visonary and a true pioneer, "French Tom" innovated throughout his entire life. He was the first shipper to own his wine estates, confirming his passion of the vineyards of France. This range of 3 superpremium South of France varietal wines was created in his honour.

Winemaking

French Tom varietals are made with latest technologies of French know how. The Cabernet Sauvingon, Merlot and Chardonnay are intensely flavored with well-balanced oak influences, resulting in wines that are rich and complex. Three partner-winemakers from the Languedoc and Gascony worked hand in hand with the B&G winemakers team under the direction of Laurent Prada, to meet the guidelines:

  • A selection of prime vineyard plots and grapes
  • Close monitoring at the moment of harvest
  • use of long macerations for more structure and aromas
  • Micro-oxygenation on the reds for richness and to soften tannins
  • Fermentation and ageing in oak barrels to develop harmonious oaky aromas and to bring roundness.
The whites are aged in American oak barrels and the reds in French and American oak barrels.
