Winemaking
The winemaking strategy
Barton & Guestier’s sales, marketing and winemakers teams work hand in hand to define the style of wine requested by the
consumer.
All the wines are selected and monitored by Laurent Prada, head winemaker, and his team. They control all the steps of the process,
including pruning, harvesting, vinification, ageing, blending and bottling.

The B&G’s winegrowers community
The Barton & Guestier winemakers work in partnership with about
250 winegrowers over the greatest French wine Appellations.
Barton & Guestier is the only wine merchant to combine the most
ancient experience in winemaking in Bordeaux and the latest
technologies offered by its different partners.
Rigorous specifications and strict guidelines have been established to
control and trace the origin of each wine:
- Drastic selection of best terroirs with best exposure
- Optimal maturation of the grapes before picking
- Limited yields
- Vinification process adapted and optimised for each product: ageing in French and American oak barrels
for great red and white wines, on the lees for some delicate whites wines, stainless steel tank to get fresh rosé wines...
”The strong relationship with our partners greatly helps us to create wines that appeal to the international palate, yet still offer
the “cachet” and the typical character of French wines”, according to Laurent Prada. “Being involved from start to finish, from the
vinegrowing to the bottling, allows us to adapt our winemaking and to propose only the best to our consumers”.
