French Tom
French Tom Offers New World Flavor Profile, Stylish Packaging for Worldwide Market.

Barton & Guestier is proud to announce French Tom -a new French wine combining exciting packaging with a new world flavor profile- created primarily for the U.S. market by Barton & Guestier and Diageo Chateau and Estate Wines winemaking teams.
French Tom wines are 100% varietal wines of Chardonnay, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Designed to appeal to the International palate, French Tom offers fruit forward wines that are intensely flavored with wellbalanced oak influences, resulting in wines that are rich and complex. French Tom is value priced in the €12.99 - €13.99 range, and will be available in limited quantities for on-premise, gourmet grocery and qualitative wine shops only.

The winemaking style for French Tom is a departure from Barton & Guestier’s regular varietal line, which uses no oak. In the spirit of partnership, Diageo Chateau & Estate Wines and the Barton & Guestier teams worked hand-in-hand with forward thinking French winegrowers throughout the winemaking process to create wines with subtle oak undertones and lush, forward fruit.

“Barton & Guestier’s strong relationships with their vendor partners greatly helped us achieve the flavor profile we set out to create,” said Laurent Prada, Barton & Guestier’s Winemaker.  “The result of this give-and-take winemaking process is a range of wines that appeal to the International palate, yet still offer the ‘cachet’ of French wines.”

In order to communicate the super-premium quality of French Tom, Barton & Guestier has designed a modern, eye-catching package featuring a dual label in a warm color palate, highlighted by metallic inks. “The packaging reflects the desire of contemporary wine drinkers to enjoy high-quality wines at value prices,” said Prada. “The label and the bottle offer a rich complement to any setting”.

French Tom is named in honor of Barton and Guestier’s founder, Irishman Thomas Barton, the pioneering eighteenth century wine merchant, who traveled France to select fine wine for a distinguished clientele who later included American President Thomas Jefferson. “Thomas Barton was an innovator ahead of his time,” said Laurent Prada. “In the 1700’s, he brought the finest French wines home to his native Ireland, gaining the respect of his homeland and earning him the nickname ‘French Tom.’

These wines were created in this spirit of sharing, partnership and vision that was the essence of Thomas Barton.”

World leader in Fine French wines with sales over 16 million bottles in 130 countries, Barton & Guestier has developed a brand strategy based on AOC from Bordeaux and Burgundy region, Rhône Valley and Loire Valley, and Varietal wines from Languedoc. Its expertise allows constant quality and style as the benchmark for French wines.
